Oral Delivery Applications
Through the use of our proprietary protein crystallization and cross-linking technology, Altus creates highly stable protein therapeutics that allow delivery of proteins to the GI tract without degrading in the harsh pH and proteolytic environment of the gut. Our product development strategy is to apply this technology to existing, well-understood proteins that would ordinarily be rendered ineffective by the harsh gastrointestinal environment. Therefore, these protein therapeutics can be taken orally, and due to their mechanism of action and therapeutic targets, do not have to be transported across the intestinal lining and into the bloodstream to demonstrate a therapeutic effect.
