Over the years as we have worked with many data centers and strategies, it became clear that planning for future growth was a problem that many customers struggled with. Questions that customers wanted to be answered were:

• When will my current data center floor space be exhausted?
• If we are planning a new build, what percentage of free space should I plan for 5 or 10 years in the future?
• What factors go into this planning? Storage? CPU? Technology shrinkage? Business growth? Virtualization of servers?
• How can we estimate these factors of growth and shrinkage simultaneously?
