The company has the potential to redefine the use of biopharmaceutical proteins for gastrointestinal or metabolic diseases by allowing the oral and parenteral delivery of high value protein replacement products. Altus has talented employees with a clear vision for the future, a vision that is committed to developing high quality products to benefit the well-being of people with unmet medical needs.
Our products are novel therapies that are designed to be safe, effective and convenient, resulting in enhanced patient compliance. Our lead product, Trizytek™ (porcine-free enzymes) (formerly known as ALTU-135), is an enzyme replacement therapy for the treatment of malabsorption as a result of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Altus initiated the Phase III DIGEST Trials in May of 2007 to study the safety and efficacy of Trizytek in patients with pancreatic insufficiency due to cystic fibrosis, as well as to ascertain the safety of Trizytek in patients with chronic pancreatitis. Trizytek has been granted fast track designation by the FDA. According to IMS Health data worldwide sales of pancreatic enzymes were over $707 million with approximately $190 million in sales in North America.
