Altus was created in 1993 to research and refine our proprietary protein crystallization and cross-linking technology. Crystallization and cross-linking of proteins provide significant improvements in stability and concentration of proteins which leads to the opportunity for oral and parenteral delivery of proteins.

In 1999, Altus scientists found that the technology enabled the crystallization of all types of proteins into pure, stable protein crystals useful in a wide range of therapeutic applications. Strengthened by an established intellectual property base, Altus has emerged as the leader in protein crystallization within the rapidly growing biopharmaceutical industry.
